Top 10 Twitter Tips for Engagement - Tip #5 Find a hashtag conversation to join
Hashtags help you filter out the noise on Twitter and find the discussions around specific topics in your areas of interest. Find a hashtag at hashtags.org or look at past tweets of some relevant Twitter accounts to see what type of hashtags they’ve been using in conversations. Is there a regular chat hashtag, an exhibition or conference hashtag you can follow and contribute ideas to?
It’s the best way to get your tweets noticed, as people will be more likely to find them by searching on hashtags. Start engaging in conversation with users who tweet on the hashtag and users will be more likely to start engaging with you. As with most activity on Twitter, you need to be active in order for people to engage with you. It is harder to increase engagement without first initiating some engagement to begin with, and hashtags are a great place to start finding the right users you want to engage with.
