Top 10 Twitter Tips for Engagement Tip #6 - Don’t overuse hashtags or jargon
Don’t be a prolific user of hashtags that have very little meaning. You see far too many tweets filled with hashtags in front of every word that do not relate to anything specific. Besides making your tweets difficult to read, it also shows that you have little understanding of the real use of hashtags on Twitter. Only use hashtags that relate to particular discussion topics or events. Don’t put hashtags in front of generic words for no reason.
I know it can be difficult sometimes to compose the perfect tweet in 140 characters or less, but be careful if you decide to abbreviate words, use acronyms or text speak to fit your words in. They can reflect on you poorly and may not be easily understood.
Remember, social media is a public arena to represent you and your business, so ensure that your tweets are well composed and readable. However still ensure you show your personality on Twitter and make sure there’s a voice behind your tweets. Twitter is about real people having real conversations.
