Twitter on TV – how the big TV channels are trying to get you to advertise for them

I first noticed it in the first episode of Britain’s Got Talent: a bloke came on stage with a crazy costume sporting big, golden wings and suddenly, in the corner of the screen was the word #nowwithwings. This phenomenon continued as the producers of the show started to suggest individual hashtags for different acts on the show to use alongside the usual #bgt hashtag.

The latest series of the Apprentice has also been promoting tweeting more vigorously than before, with the after show programme ‘You’re Fired’ recommending viewers follow @bbcapprentice for Lord Sugar’s reactions and thoughts.

Then, I was watching my current favourite programme on television last night, Homeland, and the first advert break was solely taken up with the UK premiere of the trailer for the film Prometheus. At the end of the trailer, the channel 4 announcer encouraged viewers to tweet reactions using #areyouseeingthis. What I didn’t expect was that in the following advert break, the tweets on this hashtag were displayed in a twitter wall on the TV. I ran up to my TV to take this picture:

Get the most out of the new timeline for your business page on Facebook

Facebook launched the new look timeline for all business pages this weekend. Things look and feel quite different and you may be feeling a little disoriented. Don't worry, Bryony and the team at Reach Further are here to help!

Bryony invites you to our Four Weeks on Facebook Course

Our next unique online course on Facebook starts 16th April, all updated to incorporate the new timeline and how to get the best out of it for your business or organisation.

The whole course takes place online and you just need to set aside a minimum of two hours a week to work on the activities set - by the end of the course you will have a Facebook page with the new timeline and have a detailed strategy of what you're going to do with it. The course is suitable for those who haven't yet got a Facebook page or for those who already have a page who would like to learn more about the timeline and develop a strategy for their page.

Register here to book your place: http://fourweeksonfacebook.eventbrite.co.uk - we look forward to helping you to create a full strategy for your Facebook page.
